DESCRIPTION:Speakers: M. H. Modi (Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technol
ogy\, Indore)\n\nRaja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology is playing ke
y role in the development of frontline technology in the field of lasers a
nd accelerators. RRCAT hosts India's Synchrotron Radiation facilities\, na
mely Indus-1 and Indus-2\, which were indigenously developed for photon sc
ience research in materials science\, biology\, chemical sciences and engi
neering fields. Eighteen user beamlines are operational on Indus-2 (2.5 Ge
 V\, 200 mA electron accelerator) and seven beamlines on Indus-1 (450 MeV\,
125 mA electron accelerator). The X-ray beamlines mainly use reflective o
ptics\, to provide an X-ray beam of the desired quality at the experimenta
l station. The fabrication and characterization of these optics are also i
mportant tasks in which RRCAT has developed expertise. The soft x-ray refl
ectivity beamline is specifically designed to characterize large area x-ra
y optical elements including mirrors\, detectors etc. Thin film and multil
ayer coating facilities are also available for in-house applications. In c
ase of synchrotron optics which gets contaminated after prolonged use\, an
optics refurbishment facility has also been setup. Details of these facil
ities and related research activities will be discussed\n\nhttps://events.
