Heliosphere is the region in the milky way galaxy governed by our star, the Sun. In recent times, there have been many concerted efforts to understand the shape, characteristics of heliosphere and it's interaction with the local interstellar medium. Within the heliosphere, solar system planets - unmagnetized, intrinstically magnetized or magnetically induced - exist with various forms of atmosphere and ionosphere. The solar radiation, particles and magnetic field interact with these planets and dictate the space weather perturbations. Particles (ions and electrons) are important messengers that not only carry important information from the Sun into the heliosphere but also act as messengers from the intersteller medium. With the Aditya-L1 mission, India has taken first step towards measuring the solar wind and energetic particle fluxes as well as solar wind bulk parameters like density, velocity, temperature etc. The directional measurements of these particles are opening up new ways to understand the heliosphere, solar wind, energetic particles and space weather. Some of these interesting aspects will be discussed.
