Climate change is already being witnessed, and its impacts are visible. The continuing increase in CO2 concentrations, increase in air and ocean temperatures and changes in precipitation patterns are likely to modify various earth system processes. The frequency and intensity of extreme events, floods, droughts, and cyclones are increasing. The implications of these changes for agriculture, fisheries, coastal and marine ecosystems, water resources, etc., will be discussed briefly. The assessment of global actions and India’s actions in mitigating the effects of climate change will be presented. The possible measures for energy transition and climate action will be outlined.
