Description

Feature tracking is a necessary tool to study the evolution of small-
scale magnetic features on the Sun. In particular, such a code is very
helpful in understanding bipolar emergence and cancellation. In this
project, we develop a new feature tracking code in  Python and Julia,
based on an earlier code written in IDL language (see. Anusha et al.
2017), and optimize it. The aim of the project is to move to an
open-source domain and make it publicly accessible so that it can be
applied to various ground and space-based solar observational data.
Here I discuss the advantages of Python and Julia over IDL, the
testing process, and the new features added to the code.
